every autumn, when the vegetables are ready to eat, children pick largeorange pumpkins. then they cut faces in the pumpkins and put a burning candleinside. it looks as if there were a person looking out of the pumpkin! theselights are called jack-o'-lanterns, which means "jack of the lantern".

the children also put on strange masks and frightening costumes everyhalloween. some children paint their faces to look like monsters. then theycarry boxes or bags from house to house. every time they come to a new house,they say,"trick or treat! money or eat!" the grown-ups put treat-money or candyin their bags.

not only children, but most grown-ups also love halloween and halloweenparties because on this day,they can disguise themselves as personages or ghostas their imaginations will lead them. this bring them the satisfaction of beingyoung.

万圣节前夕是美国人年年都会庆祝的秋季节日。它的意思是“神圣的夜晚”，在每年的10月31日，也就是万圣节前夜。但实际上这不是一个真正的宗教节日，而主要是孩子们的节日。

每年秋天蔬菜成熟可以食用的时候，孩子们就会挑出大个儿的橙色南瓜。然后在南瓜上刻上一张脸，把一根点燃的蜡烛放在里面。看起来就好像有人在向南瓜外面张望。这些灯就叫做“iack-o'-lantems”，意思也就是“杰克的灯”。

每年万圣节前夕孩子们还戴上奇怪的面具，穿上吓人的服装。有些孩子把脸刷成怪物。然后他们拿着盒子或袋子挨家挨户串门。每来到一个新房子他们就说：“不款待就捣乱!给钱还是吃的!”大人们就会把用来招待的钱或糖放在他们的袋子里了。

不仅孩子，许多成年人也喜欢万圣节前夕和万圣节前夕晚会。因为这一天他们可以根据自己的想象把自己装扮成名流或幽灵。这会带给他们年轻的快感。

大家早上好!我是四五班的金沛雨，我是魏毅，我是周蕾，我是秦依婷，我是陈欣奕。今天我们讲话的主题是《愉快的万圣节》。

金沛雨：大家知道吗?每一年的10月31日是西方国家的传统节日——万圣节，也叫鬼节。万圣节这一天，家家户户都会挂起南瓜灯并给来捣蛋的孩子派发糖果，因此万圣节是外国小孩子们最喜欢的节日之一。人们还将自己打扮成各种妖魔鬼怪的样子来将鬼魂吓走，这，就是万圣节的来历。

魏毅：上周我们清雅苑的小朋友在家长的组织下进行了万圣节活动。我们有的穿上怪兽的服装、有的穿上公主裙、有的戴上面具、还有的提着南瓜灯、我们挨家挨户敲开邻居的门，对他们说“trick or treat”，然后获得邻居所发的糖果，大家开心极了!

陈欣奕：同学们，你们肯定有疑问，为什么万圣节孩子们要挨家挨户要糖?古西欧时候的爱尔兰异教徒们，相信在万圣节前夜鬼魂会群集于居家附近，并接受设宴款待。后来这习俗一直延续下来，就成了孩子们取笑不慷慨之家的玩笑。

周蕾：万圣节里，南瓜灯是万圣节最常见的标志，大家听我来讲讲南瓜雕空当灯笼的故事吧!在古老的爱尔兰传说里，是把小蜡烛放在一根挖空的萝卜里当做灯笼。据说爱尔兰人到了美国不久，发现南瓜不论从来源和雕刻来说都比萝卜更胜一筹，于是古老的萝卜灯就演变成了今天的南瓜灯，南瓜就成了万圣节的宠物。

秦依婷：同学们，妖魔鬼怪都只是传说，万圣节也只是个普通的节日。伟大的文学家高尔基曾经说过：“应当热爱科学，因为人类没有什么力量比科学更强大，更所向无敌了!”反对迷信，崇尚科学。我们首先要认真学习科学文化知识，多读课外书，增长知识，开阔视野。其次，我们自身不能参与迷信活动，同时还要劝告亲友，不搞迷信活动，不信邪教。我们要用所学的科学知识向人们揭示事情的真相，使人们不再相信迷信，而相信真理，相信科学!我们的讲话结束了，并和指导老师郑月瑛老师感谢大家的聆听!谢谢!

每年的10月31日是西方传统节日万圣节前夜。当晚小孩子们会穿上各式各样稀奇古怪的服装，带上面具，挨家挨户索要糖果，这样的活动一直会持续到11月1日。所以说万圣节是属于孩子们的节日，当然也是年轻人的化装舞会。

今年我和妈妈一起制作了南瓜灯、女巫帽和蝙蝠面具，制作过程虽然繁琐但也充满了乐趣，当我戴上亲手制作的面具，我感到非常的骄傲和自豪。在万圣节这一天，幼儿园也举办了非常有意思的活动，给我印象最深的是胡老师，她打扮成了一个穿睡衣的男人，特别的搞笑，我和琪琪都笑得前仰后合，不过，让我兴的还是得到了好多糖果。妈妈还告诉我，万圣节是了解英语世界的一个特别好的窗口，我们小朋友要好好学习，将来可以与全世界的小朋友一起快乐的游戏。
