this is a fairytale whose distribution volume is only second to the bible. it’s been translated to versions of many other languages. and i gather there must be something special, something really great about it. it’s this conviction that drove me to read it at the first beginning. well, with due respect to the author, i failed to see how this fairytale be worthy of our attention, despite the fact that many readers claimed this book to be designed for adults.
anyway, as a well-acknowledged book, it must possess unique feature to maintain it’s position. and it’s reputation and popularity will by no means be destroyed by what an unknown man says. i will talk about the main contents of the book, and the inspiration it renders as usual.
this book mainly tells us the experience of a prince from a tiny planet, who traveled to many other planets and finally came to the earth and met the pilot in a desert. the prince and the pilot became good friends, and the pilot gradually got to know the feeling and experience of his friend. before he came to the earth, little prince had been to other 6 little planets where he made acquaintance with some strange people.
the first man he met was a king on a little planet, yet he claimed to be the king of the space and ridiculously justified his unshakable governance over all. the second person was a man of vanity, who enjoyed pliments of any form without considering whether it’s sincere or not.
the third person was an alcoholic who tried to forget the fact that he’s addicted to acohol by drinking like a fish. the fourth person was an abosolute money-oriented businessman, who cared nothing but his fortune. next came the lamp-lighter who performed his duty blindly. the last one was a geographer who knew too much about geography to solve a real problem related to it. these six people each represented one kind of person like us. the author satirized people’s conceit, emptiness, fakeness, innocence and blindness through the tone of a child.
i see eye to eye with the author in that the cause of people’s loneliness can be concluded to the negligence of the bonds that connects them. people are supposed to care about each other, cherish what’s really important for them, and be grateful for the happiness that they’ve gained. we all believe knowledge and experience enable us to see clearly and make right judgements all the time. but we may sometimes lose the right to speak straighforwardly, think creatively or love courageously resulting from what we’ve experienced. that why in our middle school textbooks, it’s the little kid that breaks the illusion of the emperor by saying ”but mum, he ain’t were anything”.
when i was a child, i was definitely a good boy who went home on time after school and did his homework and never tried anything without mom’s permission. and now i am a grown-up, and still i am a good man, at least, that’s what i heard. sometimes when i was lonely and i began to think about my childhood, then all the happiness and care-free
life came back to me as it were yesterday. kids that once acpanied me during my childhood now bee fathers and mothers of their kids and i myself am a child no more. thinking about all these things have made me moody. there’re changes happening in our lives whether we are happy about it or not.
people told me life is a journey which will never stop once it’s started. what’s left behind are happiness and sorrow, pride and shame, success and regret. there’s good old time to reminisce and there’s sad hours that reminds us of the pain. your feeling makes them real, and you know you lived.
i want to conclude by saying some positive words that each yestersday used to be today, and each today is the future of yesterday, so making the most of today is the best way to cherish your lives. our mortal beings are doomed to die. it’s not sad, instead, death it’s just a process of our lives. after all, we’ve lived our lives and it’s what we do and how we think that determine who we are.
(when you look at the above passages, don’t regard it as a position or an article, because if you do, you will be puzzled at the structure. it’s just a few words that e to my mind at the moment and i type them.)
have a nice day!
for you, a thousand times over.
i am convinced that few books are as good as this one. to be honest, i hadnsquo;t maintained that this book would appeal me before i read it. however, i was absorbed in the book from the first chapter to the last one. why this book has appealed to me that much? i asked myself. this book is not my type of reading for only romantic books could draw my attention successfully. then i came into a conclusion that it is the friendship and familyship fascinated me.
to the world you are one person, but to the person who loves you, you are the world. amir was hassansquo;s world. amirsquo;s name had been the first word hassan spoke. hassan threatened brutal assef for the sake of amir. hassan never failed to run the kite to please amir. hassan sacrificed himself for amirsquo;s house. these are more than a friend would do. only those who loves you so much could challenge himself to do what hassan did to amir.to hassan, amir was not only a mere friend but a brother. he loved amir more than anything else. even after amir betrayed him, he still told his son proudlyagan amir is my best friend.maybe for hassan for you, a thousand times over has another meaning, which is not just kite running for amir but he will do anything for amir.
if hassan could be described as an angel, then amir was just a person. i did hate amir for he watched hassan be raped and did nothing, for he made hassan leave his born-place, for he aimed hassan with fruit(even though he actually tried to make himself get punished). amir didnsquo;t deserve what hassan did to him. i thought his meanness caused hassansquo;s tragedy. but after i finished the book, i realized it is not hassansquo;s tragedy, it is amirsquo;s. for what he had done to hassan, he had led a live with regret and suffered endless sleepless nights. his going back to afghanistan is not only a journey physically but a journey to atonement. hassansquo;s son, his nephew saved, amirsquo;s sin was finally washed. like the life of circle, amir ran kite for his miserable nephew.as hassan did to him, he said for you , a thousand times over to sohrab.though the book doesnsquo;t give us an accurate ending whether sohrab came into life again. i am sure love can cure everything. only when sohrab lives a happy life as hassan hoped can amirsquo;s sin washed up.
the friendship between hassan and amir moved me. i believe all the people who read it is going to be touched just as i am. this book does make me think the good and the bad ,whatsquo;s wrong and whatsquo;s right, the cruelty of war . few books can exert an influence on people nowadays, this book sure does.
wizard of oz is a fairy tale carefully written by american writer lyman frank baum. the article contains the authors inspiration to the desire - dont think that the desire can never be realized. as long as you work hard and strive for it, then the desire will be realized by us.
the wizard of oz paints a moving story full of friendship, courage and trust. let us know that friendship is a kind of quiet and calm love, guided by reason, the habit of forming, the combination of long - term understanding and common, without jealousy, and no fear. true perseverance is that when a man is in trouble or danger, he can calm himself and do his duty.
the images depicted in the wizard of oz are rosie, scarecrow, iron man, lion, and oz. they have experienced a lot of things together: bravely defeated the evil western wicked witch; they worked together through the exquisite porcelain country and the wooded schwarzwald; found the good southern witch genda, finally finished the desire to go home with rosie, and lived happily with aunt amy and uncle henry.
by reading the work of wizard of oz, we must learn more about rosies steadfast spirit and optimistic attitude. although there are some frustrations and hardships to realize the ideal desire, as long as we have persevered efforts, one day, we feel that the desire to be impossible will be realized.
in his novels, maugham deeply explores the contradiction and interaction between life and art. the theme of escapism revealed in the novel coincided with the pursuit of many people in the west and became a popular novel in the 20th century.
"maughams gauguin-inspired novel the moon and sixpence is undoubtedly more fiction than fact." "over the next decade, gauguin thought he would finally be able to enjoy the fruits of his success and reunite his family." by comparing fiction with reality, we can find that gauguins pursuit of painting has its causal relationship and process development, while stricklands departure is very abrupt and too intense. coupled with the authors use of fictional plots and narrative techniques, he has created a so-called pure artist who is not worldly and does not eat other people. compared with gauguins departure, stricklands departure does not conform to the logic of reality at all, and it is even more incomprehensible to readers. in fact, there are deeper reasons to explain maughams purpose in writing this way. the virtual fulfillment of maughams own desires.
the sixpence was the smallest unit of money in england at the time, and maugham thought it funny when a friend joked to him that people often forget their sixpence when they look up at the moon, so he came up with the title, rather jokingly. the moon represents the ideal above, and the sixpence represents reality.
